About Us

"We provide a service which helps to prevent people from being and feeling isolated while enhancing their ability to access, participate and live in their community longer. We foster a sense of independence, self-worth, and overall, a better quality of life."
Our Story
The M.E.L. Society came about when Alberta Health Services put in place a policy that had all the medical equipment that had previously been lent out to clients through the Home Care Program no longer an active program. The Directive to Facilities was to gather all their equipment and send it to a lending program that operated as a not for profit in Red Deer Alberta and also to the Red Cross Organization in the rest of the province.
2020 Research Project: Equipment lending service and health system analysis to advance the understanding of equipment lending initiatives, their contribution to, and role in the greater health system to promote better public health outcomes.
